Editing Resume once uploaded

Postby gstaubin66 on Sat Mar 14, 2009 12:40 am

Is there a way to edit a resume once it's been uploaded? I uploaded a resume but for some reason at the top it shows my name and page 2 and there is no page 2. I have my resume on other job sites as well and it's very easy to just go into it and adjust the formatting or in my case delete something that should not be there. I've went to where I have it saved on my computer and checked everything out and it's fine when I view it in word but I have uploaded it a few times and it keeps coming up with the same problems. If not possible right now it would be great if you make a feature to allow job seekers to do it. Thanks in advance for any help. By the way, I think I read somewhere else in the forum that people were un happy about not being able to upload a new resume without going through and answering pages of questions again that have already been answered, I agree it's very annoying.

Once you sign in with your email address and password, click on the My CareerBuilder link.
Under the section titled "Resumes" there should be a small icon to the left of each resume that looks like a pencil and paper. This will allow you to edit that resume.

If you need further assistance, feel free to give us a call at 866-438-1485.

I understand where you're saying to go to edit, I've been there even before posting for help. What I'm asking is once I click on My Careerbuilder link and then click on the pencil and paper icon I see all the areas you can click on edit but I want to know how to edit the resume that's at the bottom of the page, the actual resume I uploaded? It would be nice if you could click in the resume area and delete or adjust stuff that might have uploaded wrong. In my case my resume was a page and a quarter of another page. I revised it with some help from friends to get it down to one page but at the top of my one page resume when I upload it it's showing My name and phone number and page 2 with a black line under that info. It doesn't show that page 2 info when I view it in Word but for some reason when I upload the resume it seems like it's still reading it as being two pages even though everything is on the first page now. Thanks for any help you can give.

I agree; you can edit everything except the actual resume. There has to be a way to do this, but the only way I've ever found is to do 'copy', which copies all the other info (job history, etc.) and then download the resume that contains the correction needed.

This is too time consuming and very difficult.

I agree. This is absolutely crap. I've spent an entire day trying to figure out why my Word Document looks fine, but once it is uploaded to Career Builder, the format is all screwed up. When I download it from CareerBuilder, it is fine again.

Its not so much the format that is screwed up, but there must be hidden table names or something that are in my Word Document, as I used a template to create my resume.
